I’ve made public safety a top priority by fully funding law enforcement, working to increase patrols, and advancing a new Sheriff’s Substation in Nipomo.

I secured nearly $1 million in County funding to support the Five Cities Fire Authority without raising taxes, strengthening 911 response for Arroyo Grande, Oceano, and South County communities. I also led the effort to bring three-person engine crews to Nipomo, improving emergency response when seconds matter most.

To better protect our neighborhoods from wildfire risk, I introduced the County’s first-ever weed abatement ordinance, helping keep our communities safe and prepared.

Protecting our water supply is critical. I’m working to safeguard Lopez Lake, advance desalination and other new water sources, and prepare our region for droughts, wildfires, and climate challenges.

Since I was first elected in 2022, unsheltered homelessness is down 42% in San Luis Obispo County.

I’ve taken a comprehensive approach focused on both compassion and accountability. That includes helping secure a $22 million grant to expand mental health services, hiring more professionals to strengthen outreach, and identifying critical gaps in care.

We’ve expanded shelter capacity by 146 beds countywide, including 50 beds in South County, and maintained funding to keep those beds operating. We also constructed Welcome Home Village, adding 54 supportive housing beds to help people transition off the streets.

At the same time, I’ve worked to protect public safety by ensuring laws are enforced to prevent encampments in neighborhood parks, sidewalks, and beaches.

To address long-term needs, I supported opening a new sobering center and advancing a dedicated psychiatric treatment facility for youth in crisis and others in need.

These are real, measurable results that are making a difference.

I’m focused on building affordable and workforce housing while protecting our coastline, open space, and farmland. That means controlled growth, including ADUs, infill housing, and balanced development.

I’ve helped launch the County’s Master Plan for Aging and expanded programs that help seniors stay in their homes, remain independent, and stay connected to the community.
